The Hackney Folk Club, Chats Palace.
Brand New Twice Monthly Midweek Folk Club.
1st and 3rd Thursday of each Month

Got a song to share? Play an instrument? Join us at this community focussed night exploring the traditional folk songs and tunes of any given culture. Out of the rich cultural melting pot of London and Hackney come old songs, tales and tunes that have drifted over the waves of our ancestors migratory past, gathered and cherished anew in the present.

Let's gather good people to explore singing and playing music together, or to just come and listen whilst having a drink at the bar.

This club will uphold the time honoured traditions of Folk Clubs up and down the country. We will start the evening with Floor Spots, AKA Open Mic, from our regular attendees and club members, which may even evolve into a “house band”. Material performed should be traditional in essence,  or music heavily inspired or in the idiom of traditional/ acoustic music.

The evening will finish with a visiting or guest act. Criteria here is similar to the above – visiting acts should perform the traditional music of their culture, however “modernised” or “influenced by”. Ideally visiting acts should be established and have at least one album recorded. To honour Folk Club history, we encourage visiting artists to teach choruses and encourage singing along.

Format of the Evening
Doors 7pm
Floor Spots 7:30 – 8:30
Guest/headline Act 9 – 10pm
